Searching the Qualification code screen — read this first.
Do not search %project management. It returns nothing. The qualification is registered as “Higher Certificate in Business Management” — project management is a specialisation inside it, not part of the name. UJ’s own page: the certificate “affords those students to specialise in one of the knowledge areas of either general management, risk management or project management.”
Search these, in order:

Pick the one whose code is HCBM05. HCBM01 is General Management, HCBM15 is Marketing & Sales.
If none of the three return it: HCBM05 sits on the Continuing Education / non-subsidised stream, which sometimes is not carried in the mainstream undergraduate wizard. That is a question for Ms Boni Ngwenya — bngwenya@uj.ac.za · 011 559-1959, not a reason to give up at 1am.
Two choices per academic year, and they cannot be amended once chosen — UJ’s own words. Decide your second choice before you submit, not after.

TUT’s completion mail lists Choice 1 = Dip (Retail Business Management), YEAR block, 2027 — but his 31 July email asked TUT about Diploma in Supply Chain Management (DPSU26). Check which qualification the application actually carries. TUT replied with an autoresponder only; no human answer is in the inbox.
So the 30 September date is not a threat. Both are in, months early. The only thing still unfiled is UJ.

Construction Management anywhere — every institution wants pure Maths and Physical Science. That's the direct route to all five jobs, closed by two subjects rather than one percent.

Operations Management and Project Management are the two routes that are open into that exact work. The top three is built from availability, not preference — which is also why it survives Dad asking "is this what you actually like".

One year at DUT → transfer to UJ
Case-by-case, and weak. Incomplete study makes you a transfer applicant, not a progression candidate — some institutions consider it, some send you back to your matric marks. You'd also have moved to Durban to do it and then moved back. The Higher Certificate does the same job properly, in the city you already live in, with a completed qualification behind it.

Construction Management — every institution
Needs pure Mathematics AND Physical Science. UJ BSc Construction: APS 30, Maths L5, Phys Sci L5. DUT built environment: Maths L4, Phys Sci L4. You have neither subject. This is the direct route to all five jobs and it is permanently closed — by two subjects, not one percent.
Operations Management — UJ and TUT
Both require Maths Literacy level 5 (60%). You have 59%. UJ's APS bar is 22 and you have 26 — you clear it by four points and fail on the single subject. DUT is the only route.
Quantity Surveyor
Regulated profession — needs a dedicated QS qualification. The highest-status commercial role in SA construction, and none of these seven reach it. Worth knowing now rather than in 2029.
Wits — BSc Construction Studies
Accredited by SACPCMP, SAIB, CIOB and RICS — the real built-environment route, and the best one in Johannesburg. Needs APS 30–35 plus pure Maths and Physical Science. You have APS 26 and neither subject. Verified off Wits’ own course finder, 27 Aug.
SACPCMP registration — the professional register
The register for construction project managers in SA. Candidate registration needs “accredited Built Environment qualifications or Recognised Built Environment qualifications” — read off SACPCMP’s own portal, 27 Aug — at NQF 8, 480 credits, and only from universities or universities of technology. Nothing on this page reaches it, because every option here is a business-faculty qualification. Same wall as row 05: Maths and Physical Science, not marks. Do not let anyone sell you a project-management course on the promise of the register.
UNISA — project management
No matric-entry PM qualification exists. UNISA’s Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management (90146) needs a 360-credit degree plus two years’ work; everything else is a short learning programme carrying no NQF credits. Checked 27 Aug so nobody re-researches it.
The matric rewrite — both levers
Nov-2026 NSC part-time registration closed 13 March 2026; May/June closed 6 February. ML 59→60 and English 55→60 are both shut for the 2027 intake. Stop treating them as levers.
UJ College of Business & Economics diplomas — unverified
APS 26 clears the whole CBE range (bars are 21–26 with Maths Lit). What's unconfirmed is the per-subject level — sources disagree on ML 4 vs 5. UNISA Diploma: Operations Management
Distance learning — studied from Joburg with no relocation. Worth checking whether their entry accepts ML level 4. Not chased yet.

Why it is worth filing even though Dad’s gate is already met: per the HEQSF, “a Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in a cognate field will satisfy the minimum requirement” for Diploma admission — so completing it erases the Maths Literacy 59% wall that currently blocks UJ and TUT Operations Management.
These two are training, not qualifications. Neither carries NQF credits and neither stacks toward a diploma — unlike row 7 (HCBM05), which is 120 credits and SAQA-registered 101002. Read off UJ’s and Enterprises UP’s own course pages, 27 Aug 2026. UP is a (Pty) Ltd — a company owned by the University of Pretoria, not UP’s academic faculty. If the rule is government institutions only, that is the line it fails on, before cost. PMP001 has the harder entry of the two UJ project management options — it wants an NQF 5 or relevant work experience on top of matric. HCBM05 only wants the matric you already have. No tuition figure has been verified for any qualification on this page. Every “not checked” in the cost column is a call or an email you have not made yet. Every entry above is verified against the institution's own document — DUT's entry-requirements table and career leaflet, TUT's Faculty of Management Sciences prospectus (pages 11, 82, 83, 91, 108), UJ's 2027 prospectus and course pages. No aggregators, no phone agents, no assumptions. Zero unconfirmed items. Three TUT choices carry auto-admit wording — "applicants with a final APS of 24 and more will be admitted" — and you have 26. DUT has no long shot because your first choice there is already guaranteed — that is the entire point of it. Dodged along the way: TUT Administrative Management (no new intakes for 2027) and the legacy TUT Supply Chain diploma (last intake 2025). Both would have been rejections nobody explained.

Where each one leads — and what it pays

The highest-paying and the best-fitting are the same at #1 — and diverge immediately after. HR Manager (R1.046M) out-earns Supply Chain Manager (R991k) but has nothing to do with operations, procurement, data or construction. If you ranked purely on money you would have put HR second. Don't. Widest spread warning: PayScale puts HR Manager at R431k where SalaryExpert says R1.046M — a 2.4× disagreement. The certificate-level rows are my estimates, not sourced figures.

Supply Chain has a business model built into it. Operations doesn't.

IS a transaction. Buy at one price, sell at another, keep the difference. That is a complete business on day one — R5,000 and a phone. No premises, no staff, no licence.
Operations
A skill for running a business you already have. It makes you better at executing once something exists. It does not generate the thing. There is no "I'll do one operations deal this weekend."

Construction buys constantly — steel, concrete, formwork, plant hire. Understand procurement and you can become a supplier to construction, with a warm first customer. That is the warm-access play your own notes say is the only thing that has ever worked for you. 3 · Price knowledge is directly monetisable. Knowing what things really cost and who sells cheapest isn't background to the business — it IS the business. 4 · It is where the data lives for what you're building. Your named AI products are tender pricing and cost-overrun intelligence. Procurement holds supplier rates, historical spend, quote-versus-delivery. Operations sees the schedule; procurement sees the money.

The diploma is not the earning vehicle. It's the domain access.
↳ You can't build tender-pricing software if you've never seen a tender priced. You can't sell cost-overrun tracking to a construction owner if you don't speak the language. The qualification puts you in the room where those decisions are made — and the people in that room become your first customers.
So it isn't "job OR own company". It's: use the job to buy what money can't — domain, network, credibility — and build the thing that scales while you're in there. Contracts Manager at R1.1M isn't the destination. It's a well-paid seat with a perfect view of the problem you intend to sell the solution to.
